School Group Tours

Admission: All students, teachers and chaperones from Fredericksburg City are free of charge. Students from surrounding counties and districts are $3.00 per student. One adult chaperone per ten students is admitted at no charge. Each additional adult is $5.50.

Parking: One bus parking space is reserved for group tours. Please review our Bus Circulation Map for location confirmation.

Entry: The group contact person will be informed of the appropriate entrance to use upon reservation confirmation. Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the front desk in both buildings.

Timing: We suggest 2 hours to tour both buildings.

Bags: We have limited storage for bags and recommend they be left behind at school or on the bus. Packed lunches can be stored in a designated area inside the Museum.

Activities: There are worksheets available in our Teacher Resources section. Please note, we request students use pencils instead of pens when working in the Museum exhibition spaces.

Chaperones: The Museum requires students be accompanied by supervising adults with the minimum ratio of 1:10 for ages 7 -13, and 1:20 for ages 13-18. Students should remain in their groups with the accompanying adults. Chaperones are asked to respect Museum Policies and help enforce them among the students.

Emergencies: Museum staff is trained to deal with emergencies and equipped with radios. Emergency signals are communicated by alarms and intercom. Telephones are available in the Learning Center, Museum Shop, and at the front desk for emergency use.
