Public ProgramsIn addition to housing an extensive collection of artifacts and exhibitions pertaining to the Fredericksburg area, FAMCC holds programs and events throughout the year. Topics are oriented to temporary and permanent exhibitions. Program formats will vary. Gallery Talks and Demonstrations – Scholars, artisans, and other experts in various fields round out your experience. Discovery Carts – Docents interact with visitors and offer hands-on experience with period reproductions. Music in the Museum – Join us as we listen to local musicians and enjoy the Museum's many exhibits. Become a Museum member, or bring a friend who joins on the evening of the event, and enjoy a members-only reception. See schedule of events. Movies in the Museum – Enjoy the Museum at night as we watch movies in the Mansard Gallery. See schedule of events. Lectures – Our Evening with an Expert lecture series is held twice per year, spring and fall. Topics are oriented to temporary and permanent exhibitions. Book Signings – Local and regional authors will be invited to the Museum to discuss a selection of works and offer “behind-the-scenes” stories.Book signings are held in the Mansard Gallery. 2nd Saturdays in the Museum – Join us the second Saturday of every month from 1-3 for hands-on activities in the Museum. In addition to these activities, explore downtown Fredericksburg's architectural gems with Hallowed Ground tours. Tours leave the Museum at 1pm and 2 pm. Summer Workshops - FAMCC's summer children's workshops are a wonderful way for your child to have a fun, educational experience. Please call (540) 371-3037, ext. 127 for additional information. Don't forget your water bottle and hat! Architectural Walking Tours - "Bricks and Boards in the 'Burg" Join us and Hallowed Ground Tours for a one hour walking tour of downtown Fredericksburg. Tours leave Market Square/Town Hall every Saturday at 10:00 am. $3/adult, $1/child. Discounted Museum admission for all participants. |
